Liferaft Service and Inspection
Need a liferaft inspected or serviced in Finland? Laivacon Ab Oy is listed by Traficom as an approved company for liferaft servicing.
From our facility in Pietarsaari/Jakobstad, we service eligible commercial and leisure liferafts according to applicable regulatory requirements and manufacturer procedures. Send us the manufacturer, model, capacity, serial number and previous service date to confirm service availability.
We support commercial vessels, workboats and other professional marine operators as well as yacht and leisure-boat owners. Service availability depends on the liferaft manufacturer, model, approval type and the current scope of our applicable manufacturer authorization.

What Happens During a Liferaft Inspection?
A liferaft service is performed according to the manufacturer's approved procedures and the requirements applicable to the specific liferaft.
1. Identification and Service History Review
The service process begins by identifying the liferaft manufacturer, model, serial number and relevant service history.
2. Container and External Component Inspection
The liferaft container and relevant external components are examined for visible damage, deterioration or other conditions that could affect deployment.
3. Liferaft Inflation and Physical Inspection
The liferaft is inflated and examined for damage, deterioration, leakage and structural issues.
4. Pressure and Leakage Testing
Applicable pressure or leakage tests are performed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and relevant service requirements.
5. Emergency Equipment Inspection
Emergency equipment and survival pack contents are inspected and upgraded.
6. Repacking and Service Documentation
After the required inspections, maintenance and testing have been completed, the liferaft is repacked according to the approved manufacturer procedure.

SOLAS and ISO liferaft servicing
SOLAS Chapter III covers life-saving appliances and arrangements, including operational
readiness, maintenance and inspections. In Finland, Traficom states that administration
approval is required for companies servicing liferafts under the applicable SOLAS
framework.
Laivacon also services eligible leisure and small-craft liferafts. The current ISO standard,
ISO 9650-1:2022, covers Type 1 and Type 2 inflatable liferafts within its defined small-craft
scope. The correct inspection procedure and service interval always depend on the
individual raft, its approval documentation and the manufacturer's current service
instructions.

Send us a photo of the liferaft data plate together with the manufacturer, model, capacity,
